A kayak is a small single-person boat. It was originally developed by indigenous people living in the Arctic regions, who used the boats to hunt on inland lakes, rivers and coastal waters.

Nowadays it presents one of the most popular whitewater sports. The four main sub-categories of whitewater kayaking are river-running, playboating, slalom and creeking. The Soča River with its tributaries offers a variety of difficulty levels, ideal for learning and improving techniques in all categories.
